Some counties aren’t large enough to have a faculty to deal with mail, so you should give them a call and find out the standard method that you’re supposed to follow. A lot of these counties will allow you to just purchase this information with the credit card because it is a lot easier than mailing out forms. You will also need to fax your notarized request to them as well to prevent any sort of fraud. It is important to note that only a few people are allowed to access this type of information; the actual person, parents/legal guardian and lawyer. The law enforcement agencies are allowed to access this information as well, as long as they’re doing it for proper police business. Lastly, a child, spouse, or closest relative can typically get a copy of the birth certificate as long as they have been authorized in some way to do so.
